MJC

I was excited for school to start, and for my boring summer to end. But now it seems that I’ll hardly have any time for myself between School, Homework and Work. Thankfully I have Fridays off of everything, leaving Saturday and Sunday to homework. So far no homework, but three days straight of 10-12 hour days at school just plain stinks! I’ll adjust eventually, but for now it seems the more I sleep, the more tired I am when I wake up. But it’s not whats made me late to my 9:30 Physics class… It’s the parking! 45 minutes looking for one spot! that made me half an hour late. At least it’s college so I just get to walk in and sit down.

The tech-side

I found that not every technical issue are not usually solvable quickly. For instance; the blog took a while to put up, but you wouldn’t think that looking at the blog page. The problem I’m having right now is that Mac’s (the main type of computer in the studio) can’t watch .vob files because .vob files play in Windows Media Player… which is a PC program. Still searching for solutions, I think if I changed the format of the file it might work, even then there is one more issue. The file size of the .vob (or any converted file) is still 765MB… which takes a LONG time to download, buffer, or stream. Only solution I have to that is to record in a lower quality… But that’s sort of counter-productive to want a lower quality video… In the end it’ll be fixed as soon as I find a format both PC and Mac’s like. Why can’t Apple and Microsoft just get along?

In other news; I’ve got a tattoo now! Surprised my parents a little, but that’s alright. I’ve gotten a tattoo of a tri-force, specifically one from a video game because it had added designs which made it look so much better. It’s not because of the game I got the tattoo, its because it symbolizes strength, wisdom, courage, honor, loyalty, selflessness, and so much more. It may mean more to me than to anyone else, but that’s why I have it.

It Came Too Fast!

So we had our intern party today at Roosevelt Park. It was really fun! We played volleyball almost the whole day, which was fun and humorous. There’s something about a bunch of musicians trying to be athletic that makes me smile, and feel like I fit right in at the same time.. haha. But anyway, it got a little warm throughout the day, so we decided that the loosing teams had to line up, while the winning teams threw water balloons at them. That was fun ;)

We had Kenny on the BBQ. He cooked us some nice chicken, hot dogs, and hamburgers. Thanks! We brought some instruments with us, too and had mini jam sessions here and there. Toward the end of the day, Brenda got up and gave her closing thanks to the interns and all the helpers throughout the program. Each intern got a diploma, and parting gift: a $100 gift certificate to the studio! Oh yeah…

THANKS to Brenda for opening up her studio to young people who have a hunger for learning more about what they love. We appreciate you very much!! That’s a wrap for the 2010 summer internship program here at Modesto Sound (very sadly). Much love to everyone at MS.

Last day of Internship

Tuesday, August 10th marks the last day of interning for this summer. In celebration of a successful, completed summer program we’re having a par-tay on our last day.  Last Thursday we had open mic, and it was really fun. A lot of great talent :) It takes guts to get up on stage and perform in front of people. I don’t think of it often, but everytime I go to a concert, or hear someone sing in public I am reminded of this. And it is happenning again on Tuesday! woohoo :)

So excited to see where this experience takes everyone. Being an intern last summer, I never thought I would be back again hanging out with this year’s interns! Surprise, surprise… and lovin’ it! (I just had to throw that one in b/c I happen to be using McDonald’s wireless right now.. ) ha.

Bring a friend day

So, today was bring a friend day for the interns. It’s nice to see so many new people and to be able to show them what we do here. Recording a band, a commercial, and setting up our live sound system was all on the list today, and everything was fantastic! The open mic and the potluck just sealed the deal on an awesome day. Our last day together is next Tuesday, it’ll be a sad but awesome day! Be prepared for awesomeness!

In the Big City

Ok, so it’s not New York. But it’s the next best thing; San Francisco.

I left Modesto Sound this past Thursday as a regular employee, but I still remain with them in heart, and in whatever Brenda wants me to do for her. Haha. I just settled in, in my apartment, and I have a cramp from being at this computer so long, trying to install everything I need. Oh my.
So that leaves me to have a short blog today.I’m going to find these San Franciscan musicians! And I shall channel them to Modesto Sound!

This is too neat!

I was testing the new web site–the one with the moving pictures. Then I pushed the Blog link and this amazing blog page came up. Even though I was about to relax (yes my favorite thing to do) I decided to Blog again.

Jorge made the moving pictures on the web site. So if like that send him a big hello. In 5 minutes he’ll have this e-mail: jorge@modestosound.com | being the newest guy on the staff | he is still very fresh and funny to us.

Thanks Jorge for the picture work you did in Photoshop and another thank you to Matt for making our blog work on the site.
